Angulation Wires in Flexible Medical Endoscopes
Angulation wires are core transmission components that enable distal tip angulation and directional control in flexible medical endoscopes. Through mechanical linkage between the control body and the distal bending section, these wires allow precise adjustment of the viewing direction and accurate positioning during endoscopic procedures.
Functions:
-
Angulation Control
Rotation of the angulation knobs on the control body tensions or releases the control wires, driving the distal bending section to bend in one or multiple directions. -
Precise Positioning and Stability
Proper tension balance among the control wires enables the distal tip to maintain a stable angle once positioned, supporting observation and instrument manipulation. -
Force Transmission
The control wires efficiently transmit mechanical input from the control body to the distal bending section, ensuring responsive, smooth, and repeatable angulation.
Materials:
Angulation control wires must provide high tensile strength, excellent fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance, and adequate flexibility. Commonly used materials include:
-
Medical-grade stainless steel (e.g., SUS304 / SUS316)
Offers good strength and corrosion resistance and is the most widely used material.
